Preparation for Transfer
Students who intend to transfer to a four-year college or university must complete minimum admission requirements at the community college prior to transferring. Requirements vary among institutions. Therefore, students should become familiar with the courses for 1) general education, 2) major preparation, 3) admission requirements to meet minimum eligibility and selective majors, and 4) Grade Point Average (GPA).
Admission requirements may change from year to year. It is to the student’s advantage to select a transfer institution as early as possible and meet with an academic counselor, transfer center adviser, the university representative, and/or articulation officer for updated information. Students are encouraged to view the ASSIST website at www.assist.org, which provides the most up-to-date information on course articulation for California public universities.
In addition, students are welcome to visit the Transfer Center in the Student Services Center building. The Transfer Center offers a variety of services to assist students with the transfer process such as workshops, university fairs, campus tours, application assistance, and university contacts.
ASSIST (Articulation System Stimulating Interinstitutional Student Transfer)
ASSIST is a computerized student-transfer information system that can be accessed online. It displays reports of how course credits earned at one California Community College can be applied at the receiving institution. ASSIST is the official repository of articulation for California’s public colleges and universities and therefore features the most accurate and up-to-date information available about student transfer in California. For additional information regarding ASSIST, visit the Career and Transfer Center or the ASSIST website at www.assist.org.

Cal-GETC GE Requirements and Certificate of Achievement
The California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal‐GETC) is the singular general education pathway for California Community College (CCC) students to fulfill lower‐division general education requirements necessary for transfer and admission to both the California State University (CSU) and the University of California (UC). Completion of the Cal‐GETC is not an admission requirement or admission guarantee for transfer to the CSU or UC, nor is it the only way to fulfill the lower‐division general education requirements for students at the CSU or UC. However, Cal‐GETC may be a requirement for some programs (e.g., if an ADT is required). Students may choose to complete coursework to meet the CSU or UC campus specific breadth requirements of the university program to which they plan to transfer. All courses taken to meet Cal‐GETC requirements must be completed with a grade of “C” or better. A grade of Credit or Pass may be used if the college’s policy states it is equivalent to a grade of C or better. No more than 14 semester units (21 quarter units) of Pass/No Pass (Credit/No Credit), excluding credit by examination, may be used toward Cal‐GETC certification Although courses may be listed in multiple general education areas (1‐6), a course can be given credit in only one GE subject area. Courses from foreign institutions cannot be used for Cal‐GETC certification, however, international courses can be evaluated at the receiving CSU or UC and applied to their campus‐specific breadth requirements. This advisement sheet can be modified or updated from time to time. All CSU/UC transferable courses can be verified atwww.assist.org Consult with a counselor regarding which catalog year may be most beneficial and appropriate (i.e., if you are eligible to use previous CSU GE Breadth or IGETC patterns). Cal‐GETC policies are governed by the CSU, UC and ICAS. The Articulation Officer has final review and determination of all courses and catalog rights applied toward Cal‐GETC full verification.
A minimum “C” grade is required in each college course for Cal‐GETC. A “C” is defined as a minimum 2.0 grade points on a 4.0 scale.
Courses with superscripts indicate the year effective (articulated). Courses with superscripts in parentheses indicate the year ineffective (archived). For all effective and ineffective dates of ECC and other California Community College (CCC) courses articulated visit assist.org.
