Associated Students Organization

The Associated Students Organization (ASO) is the officially recognized student body that advocates for the needs and interests of all El Camino College students. As active participants in campus committees and collegial consultation bodies, ASO officers work to ensure student voices are represented in institutional decision-making. Elected and appointed each year, these student leaders champion equity, access, and service-oriented initiatives that align with El Camino College’s mission and values. ASO sponsors programs and services that enhance the student experience, promote engagement, and contribute to a more inclusive and supportive campus community.

The Inter-Club Council (ICC) serves as the governing body for student clubs at El Camino College, fostering an active and engaged campus life. Comprised of representatives from various clubs, ICC promotes student involvement, leadership, and collaboration through diverse activities, including homecoming events, service initiatives, and campus-wide engagement opportunities. With a wide range of clubs-honorary, service, cultural, performing arts, and special interest organizations-ICC provides students with meaningful opportunities to connect, grow, and contribute to the college community. Students interested in joining or forming a club can find support and resources through the Student Development Office.

Student Equity Advisory Council

The Council on Advancing and Unifying Student Equity (CAUSE) is a student-led organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of affinity-based student organizations and advancing equity at El Camino College. As the newest iteration of what was formerly the Students’ Unity Network (S.U.N.) and the Student Equity Advisory Council (SEAC), CAUSE continues its legacy of advocacy by providing student groups with representation, resources, and a platform to drive meaningful change. Through active participation in campus life and collegial consultation, CAUSE supports student-facing organizations by promoting and funding initiatives that foster diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. Committed to addressing the needs of historically underrepresented student groups, CAUSE works to create a more equitable and inclusive college experience for all. Students can stay engaged with CAUSE and other student organizations by exploring involvement opportunities at El Camino College.

Student Senate

Each of the college’s academic divisions is represented on the Student Senate by two elected students. The senate is concerned with the total student body and acts as a point of communication between the academic divisions and students. The Student Development Office advises the membership to sponsor such activities as workshops, lectures, and social events. Overall leadership of the senate is provided by the ASO Vice President and the ASO cabinet. The president, vice president, director of finance, director of academic affairs, director of student services, director of public relations, director of human resources, director of equity, diversity and inclusion, student trustee, and director of external affairs are elected by the student body each spring.

Student Trustee

The Student Trustee is elected each spring to serve as the official student representative on the Board of Trustees of the El Camino Community College District. This student leader ensures that the student perspective is heard in key discussions and decisions that impact the college community. The Student Trustee plays a vital role in advocating for student interests, promoting equitable policies, and strengthening communication between students and college leadership. Working alongside faculty, staff, administrators, and elected Board members, the Student Trustee contributes to collegial consultation and governance, ensuring that student voices help shape the future of El Camino College.
