ALH 503 - Certified Nursing Assistant

This noncredit course prepares students for the California Nurse Assistant certification exam and for employment as an entry-level healthcare worker in a skilled nursing facility or other healthcare organizations and agencies.  Topics covered include patient rights, communication and interpersonal skills, safe environment, body mechanics, principles of asepsis, weights and measures, resident care skills and procedures, vital signs, nutrition, emergency procedures, long-term care, rehabilitative/restorative care, observation and charting, and death and dying.  Successful completion of the this course enables students to take California’s Nurse Assistant Competency Exam to become a Certified Nurse Assistant.
