DANC 287abcd - Concert Dance Ensemble 1 unit 4 hours lab Enrollment Limitation: Audition required for this class Recommended Preparation: Intermediate/advanced level of technique in ballet, contemporary modern dance, and jazz dance. Credit, degree applicable Transfer CSU, UC
This course offers students an opportunity to participate in a live concert dance production as part of an ensemble in order to learn how to work as part of a dance group with a focused objective determined by the artistic and physical demands of the choreography learned and then performed. Original choreography for this class will be taught by a faculty member with concert dance performing and choreographic experience. Student ensemble members of this class will be part of a professional adjudication process run by the American College Dance Association Conference and will be ranked on group performance quality, dynamic range, technique and communication of subject matter. Students will receive a national ranking with the possibility of performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. if ranked in the top 10 nationally. Students are required to pass an audition process for entrance into this class.
