Parenting/Caregiving

The noncredit Parenting/Caregiving Certificate of Completion is designed to assist students in parenting/caregiving roles, with the goal of providing a strong foundation in empathetic, intentional and culturally responsive parenting skills. Courses will focus on milestones, setting up developmentally appropriate environments, developmentally appropriate expectations, positive guidance, limit setting, the effects of context and culture on development, the importance of play, accessing community resources and parent/caregiver advocacy. The Certificate of Completion is granted after successful completion of PAR 500, PAR 501 and PAR 502. The certificate is intended for students seeking a career in Early Childhood Education or Parent Education and anyone seeking to become a more intentional and empathetic parent/caregiver.
